The Maverick debuted in 1959 before an 11 year career. It competed as a variety of names under several owners, including as the 1964 Miss Budweiser, 1967 Atlas Van Lines, and 1968-69 My Cupiee. The boat last competed in 1970 before it was destroyed by fire in the 1980s.

In 1959, Bill Stead drove the brand new boat to a championship, racing in 10 of the 12 races that year. Debuting in Chelan at the beginning of the year, the team captured 5 wins at Coeur d'Alene, Seattle (Gold Cup), Detroit, Buffalo, and Reno.
