Hull #8407

The Lite All Star was one of the failed experiments in unlimited hydroplane history. RB "Bob" Taylor from Houston owned the relatively-new team, and acquired sponsorship from Lite Beer of Miller Brewing Co. He had a new Lucero-designed hull, with a brand-new powerplant: the GE T-64 turbine. The unique engine was installed backwards of other turbines, placing the exhaust directly behind the driver. Another issue was the lack of an onboard starter; the team would have to jump start the engine, then jump off the boat! Following the failed 1984 season, the boat sat for a few years. Bernie Little acquired the hull and converted it to a conventional design with a cockpit, using it to create the T-1 Miss Budweiser.

Tom D'Eath piloted the boat in 1984. It attempted to race in all ten races that year, but wouldn't even qualify until its fourth in Madison. Its best finish was a fourth in the Lake of the Ozarks in the Missouri Governor's Cup.
