Hull #8200

Following the death of Bill Muncey in 1981 in Mexico, the team built a new Atlas for the 1982 season with Chip Hanauer. The boat was quick out of the box, collecting the championship in its first season. In 1983, the team made some minor changes to the hull, and the boat coninued its winning ways. The boat was sold and competed under different sponsorships over the years, including the Squire Shop and Oh Boy! Oberto. Jim Harvey ran the boat through the mid-90s, then Dr. Ken Muscatel owned and drove the boat until 1998. The boat is now owned and restored as the 1982 Atlas by the Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum.

In 1983, Hanauer drove the boat in all 10 events. He collected three victories in Detroit, Evansville (Gold Cup), and San Diego. The team collected their second consecutive national championship.
