This hull made its debut in 1972 as the U-7 Notre Dame. It was campaigned for 10 years, and ran under a variety of names, including the U-76 Miss Northwest Tank Service, U-77 Spirit of Dayton-Walther, and U-20 Captran Resorts. The hull is now owned by Paul LaMarre Jr., of Lincoln Park, MI, with hopes of restoration.
In 1972, the U-7 Notre Dame made its debut at the first race of the season in Miami. It raced in 5 of the 7 races, finishing 7th in national high points. Dean Chenoweth was the primary driver, and the team had a best finish of 2nd at the Seafair Trophy race in Seattle to cap off the end of the season. In 1973, Ron Larsen took over the driving duties. The boat competed in 6 races, finishing 11th in national high points with a best finish of 5th at the Governor's Cup in Madison.
