The Red Man first came to life in 1971 as the Hallmark Homes. It raced as the Van's P-X in 1972, and Red Man in 1973. However, the boat was destroyed in a warehouse fire in 1974 and never raced again.

in 1973, Jim McCormick and Danny Walls drove the boat in all 9 races of the season. It had a best of 3rd in Miami and Owensboro and the boat finished 5th in national high points.
