U-25 Hull #8025

The turbine-powered Pay'n Pak made history as the first turbine-powered boat to win a race when it took the checkered flag in Syracuse, 1982. The boat unfortunately had a dark side as well, as it flipped with John Walters at the helm during its debut in the Tri-Cities in 1980. In 1982, after the initial victory, the boat was badly damaged following a collision and a flip in Seattle.

The boat competed for one year as the Tosti Asti with Steve Reynolds at the wheel in 1984, then added a canopy and was campaigned by Stephen Sutphen in 1987 and 1988 before being retired.

In 1982, with John Walters at the wheel, the boat raced in 5 of the 9 races, capped by the victory in New York and finishing 7th in national high points.
