The Notre Dame was born in 1962 as the Notre Dame, and ran under the Catholic Church's colors for two years. In 1965, the boat was sold and the Bernie Little campaigned the boat through the 1969 season. It continued to transfer hands through the 1970s, and ended its racing career in 1980 under the Evans brothers as the Evergreen Roofing in 1980.
In 1962, Colonel Warner Gardner drove the boat as it made its debut in Coeur d'Alene. It competed in all six races, finishing a best of 2nd at Detroit. The team finished 4th in team high points.
