Hull #8910

The "Lobster" Winston Eagle is one of the most unique hulls in hydroplane history, due to its narrow transom. With its radical design, the boat was supposed to avoid catching too much air and flipping. Unfortunately, the hull did not perform as well as had hoped, and was converted to a traditional hull after two races.

In 1990, Jim Kropfeld raced the boat at the first two races in Miami and Detroit, and the boat finished 7th in both. It was shelved in favor of a conventional hull after those races.
