Hull #8700

The Smokin' Joe's first came to life as the Miller American in 1987, before being reconfigured to conventional hull for the 1988 season. The boat campaigned under Fran Muncey's team until 1988 as the Circus Circus and Miller High Life. In 1991, the boat returned as Steve Woomer's Winston Eagle, where it raced for three years. The boat raced as the Smokin' Joe's from 1994-96, then Woomer sold the boat to Kim and Debbie Gregory. The boat continued to race all the way through the 2013 season under a variety of owners, paint schemes, and sponsors.

In 1994, Mark Tate drove the boat in all eight races. He won the first race in Detroit (the Gold Cup), and the last race in Honolulu, but that was only good enough for second in national high points.
