Born in 1975 as the Lauterbach Special, the boat was one of the last round nose unlimited hydroplanes constructed and raced. The boat and team raced over a variety of sponsorships and names until 1983, with the distinctive candycane livery in 1979 and 1980. Terry Turner drove the automotove-powered hydro, to a best finish of 4th in Miami in 1979.
