As the outrigger Pay'n Pak failed to work as effectively as hoped, the Pay'n Pak team debuted a new conventional roundnose at the last race of the year in 1969 in San Diego. Tommy "Tucker" Fults was the driver of the boat as it finished 4th at the debut race.
