The Thriftway Too was one of the most distinctive boats of the roundnose era, featuring one of the first serious attempts at a cabover design. While ahead of its time, the boat never fully caught on, with drivers being wary of sitting in front of the motor.

Russ Schleeh piloted the boat in 1960 as it debuted a predominantly white color scheme. The boat only ran in two races in Seattle and Reno, NV, featuring a best finish of 7th in Seattle. The effort earned 20th in national high points.
