The Sunny Jim first started life as the U-95, the first successful turbine powered boat. The U-95 unceremoniously sank in 1975, and after the hull was salvaged it because the Sunny Jim. The boat continued to change owners, sponsors, and paint schemes through the early 80s, last racing in 1983 as the Executone.

 

In 1976, Tom Sheehy and Johnny Sanders piloted the Sunny Jim. The boat competed three times in Detroit, Tri-Cities, and Seattle, finishing a best of 3rd in Seattle. The team finished 8th in national high points.
